Established in 2006, the Kansas Buddhist Vihara is based in the serene setting of Wichita, the largest city in the state of Kansas. It is served by Rev. Maitipe Wimalasara Thera, one of the most popular and venerable Buddhist monks in the United States. The Vihara attempts to serve the needs of the Sri Lankan Buddhist community living in Wichita and the surrounding area. Rev. Wimalasara Thera also participates in religious activities in other States in the United States. The ultimate goal is to provide spiritual and emotional assistance to the community, regardless of their faith. The Vihara is not currently housed in a permanent home as of yet, but we have served the community in no small manner during the past years.

All thoughts begin in the mind; mind is supreme and mind-made are they. If
one speaks or acts with impure mind pain follows him like the wheel the hoof of the ox.
